Image rights
Every image on this site carries a credit and a licence in its caption. We record the source and licence at the moment we add an image, not afterwards.
Where our images come from
- Public domain archives — Library of Congress, Internet Archive, Public Domain Review, national archives
- Open-access institutional collections — Smithsonian Open Access, Wikimedia Commons, NASA and ESA image libraries, NOAA
- Licensed stock, where no public domain equivalent exists
- Original diagrams and photographs we produce ourselves
What we never do
We do not use images found through general web search without establishing their rights. For a site whose entire value is verification, an unlicensed image would be an odd thing to be careless about.
If we have credited something incorrectly
Contact hello@oddevidence.com and we will correct or remove it promptly, and log the correction.
