Odd Evidence is a small independent publication. We collect as little as we can, we do not sell anything about you, and this page explains the whole picture in plain language.
What we collect
When you read the site
We use Google Analytics to understand which investigations people read and whether readers come back. It records things like the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you use, and which site sent you here. It uses cookies to do this.
We look at this as totals and patterns. We do not try to work out who any individual reader is, and we could not tell you the reading history of any particular person.
Google processes this data on our behalf. Their own privacy terms apply, and you can read them at policies.google.com/privacy.
When you subscribe to the newsletter
We store your email address so we can send you The Odd Five. That is the only thing we do with it. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from our list.
When you email us
Mail sent to our contact address is forwarded to a personal inbox and kept so we can reply and, where relevant, act on corrections. We do not add people who email us to the newsletter.
Automatically, by our host
This site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps short-term technical logs to deliver pages and block attacks. This is standard for any website and we do not use those logs for marketing.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not run advertising on this site.
- We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking pixels.
- We do not require an account to read anything.
Cookies
The only cookies on this site come from Google Analytics, and they exist to tell a returning reader apart from a new one. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out tool at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how we use it.
You do not need to prove where you live to ask. Email hello@oddevidence.com and we will do it. For newsletter subscribers, deletion is immediate and total.
Children
This site is written for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
